Dr.J. Arlo ChinneryTCMD,RAc.
I started studying Martial Arts at the age of eight and achieved my first black belt at age twelve. Over the years, I have added many other martial art styles, and Qi-Gong (Chinese Yoga). After being successfully treated for a bone spur on my spine, I became increasingly interested in the benefits of Acupuncture.
Dr. Joseph Wang of Vital TCM Acupuncture Acupressure Herbal Inc. Edmonton directed my initial studies and under his tutelage, my interest expanded to include Traditional Chinese Medicine. I then enrolled in the TCM program at Academy of Classical Oriental Sciences in British Columbia in 2000 where I received my Doctor of Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine diploma in Dec of 2005.
I completed internships at both the Prestigious Tong Ren Hospital (北京同仁医院) in Bei Jing China in 2003, under the tutelage of Dr. Tan and Dr. Yang, and at Rocky Mountain Physio in 2004. I have since 2005 continued a mentorship relationship with Dr. Ma of Heng Kang Chinese Herbal Medicine Centre, Calgary and refer patients to him occasionally when the patient would benefit from a more complex combination of Chinese herbs. I am currently a member of the Calgary Chinese Herbal Association.
I began my practice in Southern Alberta in 2006, moving back to Red Deer, my hometown, in 2010. After working as an independent contractor with Dr Kenneth Wu in his Red Deer clinic for two and one half years, I again opened my own practice just east of the Red Deer Regional Hospital. I engage in regular CPD (Continual Professional Development), offer free presentations in the community and provide educational talks to high school classes. I participate in volunteer activities as time permits.
I specialize in treating pain and immobility through the use of acupuncture. I successfully treat pain in all parts of the body. Pain from injury and degeneration, acute and chronic headache and migraine, immobility, insomnia, and sequelae stroke are just a few of the main conditions I have treated successfully.
I have a keen interest in helping patients to overcome the difficult and invasive symptoms of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) with a few acupuncture sessions. It presents a challenging combination of concerns but I am confident that my treatments are of great benefit in helping patients to minimize symptoms and cope with this disorder. I am also encouraged by the success I have seen in treating anxiety and depression, female specific problems and overall digestive and neurological disorders. I look forward to seeing you for an individual consultation in the near future.
If you have any comments or suggestions about acupuncture or any of our related services I’d be only too happy to hear from you.
